Terms of use

BeanSip is a journal for logging coffee bags and brews, with suggestions to improve the next cup. Most of it works on your phone without internet. Reading labels and the coach need a connection to our server and use artificial intelligence.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use the app on the devices you own or control, for non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

• use our server outside the app, automate requests or try to get around its limits;
• send content that is illegal or that you have no right to use;
• copy, modify or redistribute the app, or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows it.

What you log in the app is yours. It is stored on your phone, so keeping a backup is your responsibility: we can't recover data from a lost phone or a deleted app.

The app's suggestions (grind, dose, water, freshness and the coach's advice) are guidance based on general rules and on what you logged. Answers generated with artificial intelligence can be wrong or incomplete, and so can data read from a label: check it before saving. Use your judgment, and take care with hot water and equipment.

The daily journal is free. Premium is an optional subscription that adds what to change in your next cup, the AI coach (advice for each bag and the recap of finished bags) and everything the app learns. Its price, its period (monthly or yearly) and what it includes are shown in the app before you buy.

• It is bought and charged through the App Store or Google Play, with your Apple ID or Google account, and is subject to that store's terms.
• It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before. You can cancel it or turn off renewal at any time from your store account settings; deleting the app doesn't cancel it.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
• When you install the app you get 14 days of full Premium, with no card and no charge: when they end, the app moves to the free plan on its own.
• The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial, once per Apple ID or Google account. When it ends it becomes a paid subscription, charged then, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. The app shows when it ends and the price before you start it.
• The free coach requests let you try Premium: they have no cash value and can't be transferred.
• Label scanning and the coach have a monthly fair-use limit, so the service works for everyone; the app shows how much you have left.

We may change Premium's price or what it includes. A price increase applies from your next period, and the store will tell you beforehand as its rules require.

If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the app or its support.

We work to keep the app and the server running, but we can't guarantee they will always be available or error-free. We may change, suspend or end features, including the ones that use the server.

The app is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, for loss of data or for the result of following a suggestion. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country.

We may update these terms. We will publish the new version on this page with its date; if the change is significant, the app will also tell you. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
